The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides a four-year bachelor's program culminating in a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, specializing in Modeling and Simulation Engineering. This specialized major equips students to become modeling and simulation experts for engineering systems, combining analog/digital hardware and software fundamentals while applying these principles across various engineering and scientific fields. Learners will develop capabilities to conceptualize, design, and evaluate systems using mathematical models, virtual simulations, programming, and data interpretation. Old Dominion University holds the distinction of being the sole institution nationwide offering this undergraduate modeling and simulation engineering specialization. The ECE department maintains specialized research labs in areas including Cybersecurity, Communications and Network Innovation, Smart Transportation Solutions, Healthcare Modeling and Simulation, Medical Imaging and Diagnostics, and Cooperative Autonomous Systems.
