The French and Francophone studies program immerses students in diverse global cultures and historical perspectives, equipping them for an increasingly interconnected world. This curriculum enhances students' cultural awareness while developing their linguistic abilities, analytical thinking, and communication skills. The program blends intensive language learning with specialized tracks in linguistics, literary studies, and cinema. Following placement testing, students start their language journey in their first year alongside an introductory Gateways course (conducted in English) that explores worldwide Francophone cultures and academic approaches. The French & Italian Department provides a Bachelor of Arts in French studies, enabling majors to achieve high-level fluency in this globally significant language.
