The French and Italian studies major offers a dual focus for students passionate about both cultures and languages. This interdisciplinary program examines key literary works from each country while investigating the historical connections and cultural exchanges that have shaped French and Italian traditions. Through this comparative approach, students gain exposure to diverse cultural perspectives and practices. The French & Italian studies combined major enables advanced language study in both tongues while exploring the deep historical, linguistic, and cultural ties between Italy, France, and Francophone regions. The curriculum integrates essential courses from both French and Italian BA programs, supplemented by electives in each discipline and two cross-cultural comparison courses. Students develop robust abilities in communication, writing, speaking, and analytical reasoning. As part of a liberal arts education, this program equips graduates with valuable practical skills and enhanced intercultural competence.
