The Italian Studies program examines Italy's significant influence on Western philosophy and culture. Through foundational language classes, students develop advanced linguistic skills while gaining comprehensive knowledge of literature and history. The curriculum features diverse upper-level courses spanning literature, film, history, translation, art, and gender studies. A key principle of the program is that immersing oneself in another language and culture not only broadens intellectual horizons but also helps students recognize the unique aspects of their own cultural heritage.
