The Master of Science in Information (MSI) at UMSI is an interdisciplinary professional degree designed to equip students for diverse careers in information fields. This on-campus program offers strong concentrations in digital archives and library science, human-computer interaction (HCI) and user experience (UX), along with data science and analytics, while maintaining flexibility for personalized academic paths. In today's world, computer interactions permeate every aspect of daily life - from transportation and domestic spaces to workplaces and leisure activities. The disciplines of HCI, UX, and social computing examine the nature and boundaries of these digital engagements. MSI students specializing in this domain gain both research methodologies (qualitative and quantitative) to analyze HCI/UX systems and practical design skills to enhance interfaces. The curriculum integrates principles from social sciences, behavioral sciences, informatics, computer science, and design with experiential learning opportunities like internships and applied projects.
