This program enables students to examine environmental and sustainability challenges from a public policy perspective. Offered in collaboration with the University of Michigan's Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, it serves as an innovative approach for equipping future graduates with the skills to tackle critical issues such as renewable energy and climate change through policy analysis methods. Participants earn both a Master of Science (MS) in Environment and Sustainability and a Master of Public Policy (MPP). The three-year combined degree integrates two established programs: the MPP from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and the MS from the School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS). This dual-degree path requires at least six semesters of full-time study totaling 75 credit hours - 15 fewer credits than pursuing both degrees independently (which would total 90 credits). This pre-approved credit sharing streamlines academic planning and facilitates graduation within three years of enrollment. The reduced credit requirement remains within the standard limits for shared credits permitted by Rackham Graduate School.
