Join an elite group of skilled policy experts from across the globe. The Ford School's MPA program blends rigorous applied policy analysis training with advanced development in public and nonprofit management, leadership, and communication skills, addressing intricate domestic and international policy challenges. This program targets experienced professionals with a minimum of five years of policy-related work in government, military, private sector government affairs, or nonprofit organizations—whether in the U.S. or internationally. The 30-credit MPA features two semesters of thoughtfully structured, demanding coursework in economics, statistics, ethics, politics, policy writing, and management/leadership, plus customizable electives from various University of Michigan schools to align with students' public affairs interests. Previous students have pursued electives in the Ross School of Business, School for Environment and Sustainability, Marsal Family School of Education, School of Public Health, School of Social Work, and Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. The program also includes a new leadership and professional development seminar coupled with executive coaching from certified professionals.
