The M.H.S.A./M.P.P. and M.P.H./M.P.P. dual degree programs are jointly administered by the Department of Health Management and Policy and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy (FSPP). These programs cater to a select group of students seeking comprehensive training in both quantitative and qualitative policy analysis methods, along with in-depth education in healthcare administration or public health policy. Students can fulfill all requirements for both degrees within three years, saving one year compared to pursuing each degree independently. The first year focuses on completing either program's foundational coursework, while the second year covers the partner school's core curriculum. The final year combines courses from both disciplines. Both schools offer deferred admission options for students beginning with the alternate program. Shared core requirements can be met through coursework at either SPH or FSPP, with waived courses requiring substitute classes from the waiving department.
