The Master of Arts in Educational Studies with Secondary Teacher Certification program immerses students in both academic and practical school settings, equipping them to address modern educational challenges for junior high and high school levels. This intensive full-time program runs from mid-June to mid-June the following year, combining coursework with hands-on teaching internships to facilitate real-world pedagogical exploration under expert guidance. Designed as a cohesive 12-month experience, the program structures required courses as interconnected themes taught across multiple terms, enabling faculty to present material when it's most impactful rather than confined to traditional semester boundaries.
Teacher Certification
This Secondary Master of Arts program leads to certification for teaching grades 6-12. Graduates receive both a Master of Arts in Educational Studies degree and eligibility for Michigan teaching certification upon successful completion.
Cohort
Participants form a close-knit group of 30-40 peers throughout the year-long program, fostering collaborative learning among interns in comparable teaching environments. This cohort model builds professional networks while incorporating diverse educational perspectives.
