The CREES Graduate Certificate Program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies provides 9-12 credit hours of specialized study. Designed mainly for graduate students across LSA departments and professional schools, this program helps participants develop contextual knowledge about the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe while earning formal recognition on their University of Michigan transcript. The program actively promotes opportunities for internships, research, or academic study within these regions. With its wide network of regional partnerships, CREES supports students in identifying host institutions and developing project proposals. Competitive funding is available annually through the CREES Research, Internship, and Fellowship (CRIF) Program for graduate students focusing on these geographic areas (see Student Funding section). REES Certificate students are exceptionally positioned to create impressive, competitive internship proposals.
