The Art History Department at the University of Michigan offers a graduate program tailored to equip students for academic, curatorial, and other professional roles in the visual arts field. The program aims to deliver both a comprehensive intellectual framework for cultivating independent critical thinking and specialized training for advanced scholarly research. Renowned for its theoretical approach rooted in historical practice, the program promotes cross-cultural and interdisciplinary studies, supported by an extensive faculty with diverse historical and geographical expertise.
