In 1994, the English Department partnered with the Women's Studies Program to establish a collaborative PhD program tailored for students pursuing interdisciplinary research across both fields. Leveraging the combined expertise and resources of both departments, this program enables students to develop cross-disciplinary research methodologies early in their academic journey. Participants receive specialized interdisciplinary guidance essential for crafting and finalizing a dissertation that bridges both disciplines.
Applicants with Master's degrees are given equal consideration for admission, but are not guaranteed advanced standing in the program.
Applicants complete a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association; or complete an international degree that is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university recognized and approved by the Ministry of Education or Commission responsible for higher education in the country where the degree is earned.
