The Department provides PhD programs in Literature, featuring a dedicated concentration in Renaissance Studies, along with Composition and Rhetoric.
Faculty members guide graduate students throughout their academic journey, supporting them through classes, teaching assignments, exams, and dissertation writing.
Our graduate students benefit from both immersive learning experiences and structured teaching opportunities with ongoing guidance. First-year literature students typically co-teach with faculty, facilitating discussions for larger lecture courses. Second-year students instruct composition classes, while advanced PhD candidates may teach literature surveys or self-designed courses.
Through comprehensive academic training, teaching preparation, and career support, our graduates pursue successful paths as educators, researchers, publishing professionals, and editors.
