The Program in the Environment is an undergraduate degree offered through the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). This interdisciplinary initiative brings together faculty from diverse schools including LSA, the School of Natural Resources and Environment, College of Engineering, Ford School of Public Policy, Stamps School of Art and Design, Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the School of Public Health. The curriculum provides extensive options for students pursuing environmental professions. Students in this program develop fundamental scientific understanding, master sophisticated analytical methods, and learn to blend scientific and social science perspectives to tackle environmental challenges. The program's cross-disciplinary nature mandates studies across natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. It offers both comprehensive exposure to multiple fields and concentrated study in one of three focus areas: Environmental Sciences, Environmental Social Sciences, or Culture and Environment. All majors must complete an off-campus field experience or guided internship.
