The Women's and Gender Studies program offers students an in-depth exploration of research concerning women, gender, and sexuality through interdisciplinary approaches. This major combines theoretical frameworks with practical applications of feminist thought across multiple academic fields. Through cognate requirements, students acquire complementary skills and broaden their academic perspectives while examining the diverse cultural and global dimensions of feminist studies. The curriculum cultivates analytical thinking by enhancing students' critical reading and writing capabilities. The department delivers a challenging, interdisciplinary liberal arts education rooted in feminist principles, where majors and minors develop research, writing, and analytical skills across diverse courses while gaining real-world experience via practicums, internships, and community initiatives. Students may collaborate with distinguished faculty through the Honors Program and can easily combine this field of study with nearly any other discipline within the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts.
