Political Science examines the dynamics of political authority and its applications. As a discipline, it focuses on the structures and mechanisms of governance that wield authoritative control. Its scientific approach stems from a methodical framework for analyzing political conduct through empirical, normative, and experiential lenses. More expansively, it explores fundamental questions of equity and how governance either fosters or hinders its realization.
At its core, politics concerns resource distribution, while political science investigates how influence is acquired and sustained. This field seeks to understand how individuals articulate their priorities and collaborate to advance them, while simultaneously evaluating the ethical purposes behind power utilization.
The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science curriculum spans three key domains: U.S. Government (covering governing bodies, civic participation, and legislation), International Affairs (encompassing cross-national systems and global diplomacy), and Philosophical Foundations of Governance. This program equips graduates for diverse career paths including civil service, elected positions at various government levels, policy evaluation, advocacy, media, campaign strategy, legal professions, and advanced academic pursuits in teaching, research, or higher education administration.
