The Program in the Environment is an undergraduate degree offered through the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). This interdisciplinary initiative brings together faculty from LSA, the School of Natural Resources and Environment, College of Engineering, Ford School of Public Policy, Stamps School of Art and Design, Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, and School of Public Health. The curriculum provides diverse pathways for students pursuing environmental careers. Students in this program develop foundational scientific knowledge, advanced problem-solving skills, and the capacity to blend scientific and social science perspectives when tackling environmental challenges. The program's cross-disciplinary structure mandates studies across natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. It offers both broad exposure to multiple disciplines and methodological approaches, along with focused study in one of three concentrations: Environmental Sciences, Environmental Social Sciences, or Culture and Environment. All majors must complete an off-campus field study or supervised internship experience.
