The Asian Studies program enables students to explore both ancient and contemporary Asian civilizations. Students can tailor their coursework based on their selected specialization: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, South Asian, or Southeast Asian Studies. Additionally, learners may select a complementary focus area, with popular choices being History/Civilization, Literature, Religion, Linguistics, Cultural Studies, or Film. The Department provides education in languages, literature, linguistics, and cultural traditions across China, Japan, Korea, Tibet, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. This major equips students with comprehensive knowledge of Asian languages and cultural understanding. With guidance from exceptional language faculty, students can achieve advanced competency in key Asian languages. Cultural courses, led by globally recognized experts, provide essential intercultural communication skills that are becoming ever more valuable.
