The Ethnic Studies sub-major enables students to engage with current Ethnic Studies programs while also pursuing interdisciplinary and comparative academic paths. This sub-major provides structured guidance for students focused on ethnic studies aspects within American studies, culminating in formal recognition of their accomplishments. Designed as an extension of the American Culture major, it establishes a defined curriculum inspired by the existing Ethnic Studies minors. Following the minors' structure, students start with an introductory course covering fundamental terminology, concepts, and methodological approaches. They then select four electives from diverse Ethnic Studies options (including ARABAM, ASIANPAM, LATINOAM, NATIVEAM, and AMCULT/AAS courses).
