Aspiring students for the Master of Music in Keyboard Performance (M.M.) at the Frost School of Music should demonstrate outstanding piano technique, artistic sensitivity, and creative exploration. We highly recommend attending in-person auditions for optimal evaluation of Teaching Assistantship opportunities. After the audition, all MM applicants will participate in an interview with our performance faculty members.
Our program covers essential elements for building a successful career in music, whether in concert performance, academic settings, or a combination of both. The Frost School of Music maintains a commitment to classical training while integrating modern educational needs for today's musicians and educators, equipping graduates for advanced doctoral studies. Our Keyboard Performance faculty consists of internationally acclaimed artist-educators who champion each student's unique abilities and potential, fostering the artistic growth that forms the foundation of a thriving musical career.
The MM program culminates with a solo recital during the two-year course of study. Weekly Performance Forums provide platforms for students to showcase new repertoire before faculty and peers. Performance opportunities extend to collaborations with our prestigious Frost Symphony Orchestra and Frost Wind Ensemble, where piano students have performed concertos under the direction of our distinguished faculty and guest artists like Leon Fleisher. The school actively promotes artistic partnerships among instrumentalists and vocalists across various disciplines.
