Miami Law's Juris Doctor program offers an intensive full-time curriculum blending academic rigor with practical legal skills training. This three-year, 88-credit program features a distinctive first-year introduction that equips students with fundamental legal techniques before delving into theoretical and substantive aspects of law. This foundation prepares students to examine legal systems through political, commercial, and social lenses.
Human rights law studies at Miami Law cover diverse subjects, allowing students to specialize through interdisciplinary options. The curriculum integrates human rights with constitutional, criminal, family, immigration, international, real estate, and public interest law. Students develop skills to protect individual and community rights locally in Miami and internationally.
The program provides extensive practical experience through the Human Rights Clinic and other specialized clinics where upper-level students advocate for underserved populations. Miami's diverse immigrant community and socioeconomic landscape create an exceptional environment for launching legal careers domestically or internationally. Students additionally benefit from connections to our extensive network of human rights professionals, activists, and academics.
