Georgetown's Environmental Law & Policy Program offers exceptional opportunities for students to engage in legal studies focused on human-environment interactions.
The environmental law curriculum at Georgetown Law encompasses fundamental and specialized subjects in both national and global environmental regulations, spanning climate and energy policies, water rights, wildlife protection, cultural preservation, and environmental equity. Our distinguished faculty, recognized as leading scholars and practitioners, deliver essential legal expertise and hands-on training to equip students for professional achievement.
Practical skills development is available through diverse experiential learning options, such as environment and natural resources law practicums, international environmental law studies, and climate change law programs. Students can also participate in clinical experiences via the Harrison Institute for Public Law and the Environmental Law & Justice Clinic, gaining direct involvement in public interest cases representing disadvantaged communities on issues including environmental fairness, pollution regulation, natural resource conservation, and climate action. The Georgetown Climate Center (GCC) serves as a premier hub for policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders, where students work alongside faculty, legal professionals, and external partners on climate-related challenges in energy, transportation, and adaptation strategies.
