The Biology Department educates graduate students through comprehensive research training, offering a curriculum that covers key biological disciplines while maintaining adaptability for cross-disciplinary studies. Key focus areas encompass developmental biology, climate change biology, neuroscience, and ecological relationships. We maintain robust partnerships with the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science & Policy, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, the Miller School of Medicine, the Physics Department, and Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science. Prospective students must secure departmental faculty sponsorship for admission, except when applying for rotation fellowships (detailed subsequently). Domestic or international applicants that have academic credits from or attended an international institution must have their educational credentials earned outside the United States verified by an approved international credentialing evaluation service.
The following educational documents are required for admission into a graduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences: a) Official original diplomas and certificates in the original language, and b) Official original transcripts in the original language (names of courses, grades, and hours of instruction) for every year of study. Documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by professional, certified English translations. Translations supplement but do not replace, the official documents.
