The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program in BCHM or BCHN mandates 23 total credit hours in BMB coursework: 17 required credits plus 6 elective credits. A minimum of 2 elective credits must be obtained through a BMB laboratory course, choosing from BMB 145, BMB 245, BMB 402, or BMB 545. To fulfill the College of Arts and Sciences writing requirement, BMB majors must complete one writing-intensive course (W) among BMB 507, BMB 511, or BMB 545. All students must achieve a grade of C or higher in every BMB course. Current UM students need a minimum 2.9 cumulative GPA to declare a BMB major or minor, while transfer students require a 3.5 GPA. Course equivalency for transfer credits will be evaluated individually by the Department. The BCHM and BCHN tracks vary by two upper-level BMB lecture requirements.
