The Frost School's Studio Music and Jazz Instrumental Program provides an opportunity to learn from top jazz instructors while honing your performance abilities in jazz and studio settings, working toward careers as jazz artists, studio musicians, composers, arrangers, conductors, or instrumentalists.
Enhanced Readiness
As a jazz student, you'll focus on refining your tone, musicianship, and technical proficiency on your instrument to prepare for your professional path. The curriculum emphasizes stylistic development, improvisation, jazz composition, and arranging. Dedicated jazz theory and ear training courses are also available.
You'll have access to nearly forty studio music and jazz ensembles, providing exceptional performance experiences. Each Jazz Forum features guest artists and faculty-student collaborations, while renowned performers from around the world visit campus annually to conduct masterclasses and lectures, enriching your education.
Beyond campus performances, the Greater Miami area offers diverse international venues for professional growth. You'll discover abundant chances to gain real-world experience in South Florida's jazz clubs, recording studios, Latin ensembles, cruise ships, theaters, and classical music organizations.
