The 3D art studios are situated at 1535 Levante Avenue, offering each graduate student their own private workspace. These individual studios are complemented by an expansive covered outdoor area for creative work.
The 3D program encompasses clay, glass, and both traditional and conceptual sculpture. Students can explore diverse techniques including clay handbuilding and wheel throwing, glass blowing and casting, as well as sculpture methods like metal casting, woodworking, and welding. The sculpture department also supports video, performance, and installation art. UM's glass studio, founded in 1985 within the ceramics program, has grown into an essential component of the 3D facilities. Initial renovations to enhance the space for visiting artists and university courses were made possible through funding from Miami Hot's Founders Group.
