The 3D art studios are situated at 1535 Levante Avenue. Every graduate student enjoys access to their own private workspace. These individual studios are complemented by an expansive covered outdoor area available for student use.
The 3D program encompasses clay, glass, and both traditional and conceptual sculpture. Students can engage with diverse techniques, including clay handbuilding and wheel throwing, glass blowing and casting, as well as sculpture methods like metalwork, woodcraft, and casting. The sculpture department also encourages experimentation with video, performance, and installation art. UM's glass studio, founded in 1985 within the ceramics department, has grown into an essential component of the 3D program. Initial renovations to enhance the facility for both visiting artists and university courses were made possible through funding from Miami Hot's Founders Group.
