The Classics program focuses on mastering Ancient Greek and Latin to explore the diverse cultures of Greece and Rome. By examining ancient texts and artifacts, students engage with foundational ideas that still resonate today. Works by legendary figures like Homer, Sophocles, Plato, Virgil, Horace, Seneca, and Cicero continue to inspire with their intellectual brilliance, artistic beauty, and ethical depth.
Students can pursue a Classics major through four distinct tracks. Typically, undergraduates begin their studies through two approaches: acquiring language skills in Latin or Ancient Greek (or both), and enrolling in survey or thematic courses about classical civilizations.
