The University of Memphis offers a Graduate Certificate in School Social Work, serving as the academic route to obtain school-based licensure from the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). Upon fulfilling all specified requirements, students qualify for state-level educational licensure, comparable to teacher certification in Tennessee. This credential enables graduates to seek positions within Tennessee's public school districts. Note that the University of Memphis cannot ensure job placement after completion or guarantee that this licensure will transfer to other states. Out-of-state students interested in this certificate should verify reciprocity policies with their intended state's education department before enrolling. This program is designed for current social work students or graduates holding an accredited social work degree.
