The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture is an undergraduate pre-professional program. The University of Memphis offers the NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture as its professional degree. Consult the Graduate Catalog for specific information.
IMPORTANT: Prospective B.F.A. Architecture students must submit three items for departmental review: a completed application form, a written assignment, and a portfolio containing five work samples. This Entrance Evaluation assesses applicants' architectural potential, with possible outcomes including full acceptance, provisional acceptance, deferred admission pending improvements, or rejection. Enrollment in advanced Architecture courses requires successful completion of this review. Reach out to the Architecture Department for submission deadlines and requirements.
Transfer students aiming for the B.F.A. in Architecture must undergo the same Entrance Evaluation process. Those requesting advanced placement should provide a portfolio showcasing prior studio work. A faculty committee will evaluate if this work meets University of Memphis standards, determining appropriate course placement. Note that admitted transfer students may still need to address specific course prerequisites.
All students, both freshmen and transfer, must apply online for admission as an undergraduate student.
Applicants should upload a copy of their unofficial international transcript or marks sheet (high school/secondary or college/university) using our secure document upload system.
All international transfer applicants must have their international documents evaluated by a US credentialing agency that holds membership with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
