Architectural engineering (AE) is a discipline that merges creative design with the technical aspects of building construction. Architectural engineers apply core engineering concepts to develop functional building systems and components, distinguishing this field from architecture which focuses more on aesthetic and spatial design.
Our program features exceptional faculty, cutting-edge facilities, and a collaborative student community that fosters an unparalleled educational experience. The AE curriculum equips graduates with comprehensive knowledge of architectural production, a unique advantage compared to other degree programs. Students develop expertise in the multifaceted influences shaping modern architecture, cultivating a strong awareness of teamwork in professional architectural practice.
Program Features
The ABET-accredited program combines design studios with rigorous training in mathematics and sciences, allowing students to develop both creative and analytical skills.
Students can specialize in either structural design or construction project management - both concentrations focus on the technical implementation of building projects.
AE graduates must complete the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, followed by either the Professional Engineering or Structural Engineering exams to obtain professional licensure.
A specialized twelve-credit Graduate Certificate program is offered in Integrative Building Envelope Design, addressing this crucial technical element of architectural projects.
