The UMass Lowell Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering provides comprehensive education across four primary disciplines:
Environmental engineering
Geotechnical engineering
Structural engineering
Transportation engineering
First-year studies establish foundational knowledge through courses in academic writing, mathematics, and sciences. An introductory civil and environmental engineering course introduces computer-aided engineering and design principles.
Second-year curriculum advances to engineering mechanics fundamentals, covering statics, dynamics, and material strength. Additional coursework includes statistics, surveying, geomatics, and differential equations. Students may initiate the Professional Co-op Program at this stage by enrolling in a professional development seminar.
You are considered a first-year student if you have not taken any post-secondary/college coursework. Your application should include your high school or secondary school records, including results from culminating or leaving examinations.
