The University of Massachusetts Lowell is the inaugural public institution in Massachusetts to provide a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering. Our program combines a demanding curriculum, distinguished faculty, and cutting-edge research to equip students for designing and developing medical devices and equipment.
Your studies will commence with foundational courses in science and mathematics to establish a solid grasp of core principles and analytical methods. Progress to essential biomedical engineering subjects like bioinstrumentation, biomechanics, biomaterials, and quantitative physiology, then select a specialization from two concentrations: Cellular and Tissue Engineering or Medical Device Design.
You are considered a first-year student if you have not taken any post-secondary/college coursework. Your application should include your high school or secondary school records, including results from culminating or leaving examinations.
UMass Lowell requires the following minimum exam scores:
Duolingo: First-year applicants: 110
IELTS: First-year applicant: 6.50
TOEFL: All applicants: 79.00
ASC English: All applicants: Minimum score 6 - High Advanced
Pearson Test of English: First-year applicant: 61.00
