UMass Boston's Applied Behavior Analysis for Special Populations Certificate equips students with the training needed to become skilled practitioners capable of assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating ABA programs. Designed for educators seeking to enhance their expertise and earn a professional credential, this program covers fundamental ABA principles, ethical practices, generalization techniques, and their use with special populations across various settings. These skills can be applied in diverse environments—from community programs and specialized schools to residential facilities serving individuals with disabilities.
Classes are available both on our Boston campus and via live interactive video at designated sites in Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. The Association for Behavior Analysis International has approved these courses as meeting the academic requirements for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam. Additional criteria must be fulfilled for exam eligibility. Certificate credits can count toward a non-licensure Master's in Education or be combined with initial Moderate Disabilities licensure for a master's degree plus 12 post-master's credits. The MEd program can be completed entirely through 15 credits of advanced ABA coursework after certification.
