Critical multiliteracies—encompassing reading, writing, listening, speaking, representing, and viewing—are intricate social practices that enable communication, emotional expression, knowledge creation, and social engagement. Our students aim to deepen their grasp of critical multiliteracies by working alongside peers, school leaders, families, and learners to exchange expertise and perspectives on these practices. They also train to become educational innovators, crafting inclusive learning spaces and curricula that honor diverse linguistic, cognitive, social, and cultural backgrounds while ensuring fair access to multiple literacies for meaningful involvement in a pluralistic, democratic society. Beyond academic studies, you'll engage in hands-on initiatives within schools and communities, including a practicum for those pursuing licensure.
