The M.Ed. program in Bilingual/English as a Second Language/Multicultural Education fosters a cooperative, welcoming environment where educators train to assist learners of all ages—in academic, community, and professional settings—in gaining new language skills while maintaining their native tongue and cultural identity. Graduates emerge as pioneers in multilingual and multicultural instruction, with opportunities to earn E.S.L. or bilingual teaching certifications. Our program takes a comprehensive view of language acquisition, examining the philosophical, historical, and theoretical underpinnings of diverse language and cultural education. We advocate for teaching methods that advance fairness in society and create inclusive curricula addressing racial, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic diversity. Our mission is to develop leaders who enhance cross-cultural understanding, question discriminatory systems, and protect the value of native languages and traditions in education.
