Students pursuing Informatics in the College of Information and Computing Sciences explore computational principles and technology through design, implementation, and societal impact.
Our program emphasizes computational thinking across disciplines, fostering strong connections with related fields. Students select between two focus areas: Data Science or Health and Life Sciences.
Prospective students have multiple avenues to understand informatics. We highly recommend exploring at least one option before applying:
Consult with a student advisor
Stop by the CICS advising center
Participate in an information session (usually scheduled during semester opening weeks)
Visit the Fall Majors Fair
Enroll in foundational courses (INFO 101, CICS 110, or INFO 203 offer excellent introductions to the field)
