Biomedical engineering is a fast-expanding and highly creative discipline that enables you to influence the future of healthcare and medical science. At UMass Amherst, you'll master the integration of engineering with biological and medical sciences to develop diagnostic and therapeutic solutions; enhance patient care; and identify, mend, and manage illnesses. As an undergraduate, you'll engage in stimulating research and development, delving into fields from advanced prosthetics and regenerative tissue engineering to diagnostic instruments and optical imaging. In your coursework and laboratory sessions, you'll establish core competencies in subjects like biomaterials and tissue engineering, ethics, and computational methods.
