The Judaic studies program provides an extensive selection of courses examining Jewish history and cultures across different eras. Students can choose from beginner and advanced classes in Hebrew, Yiddish, Jewish history, Israeli studies, philosophy, legal studies, political science, and cinema. Required coursework for majors includes JUDAIC101 (Jewish History: Ancient to Medieval Periods), JUDAIC102 (Jewish History: Medieval to Modern Times), two years of Hebrew language study, plus six upper-level Judaic studies electives. The department strongly recommends spending a semester or year abroad at an accredited Israeli university to enhance language proficiency and experience Israeli culture firsthand. Graduates often pursue careers in Jewish education, community leadership, social services, religious leadership, or academic research. Others continue their education in diverse fields including law, healthcare, business, or creative industries.
