Since its establishment eight years ago, the Religious Studies program has expanded significantly, emerging as one of the most varied programs within the College of Arts and Sciences. Students in Religious Studies engage with courses across diverse fields, gaining comprehensive insights into worldwide religious practices. Alongside seven dedicated RELS faculty, over 15 professors from various OU departments—including Anthropology, Classics, English, History, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology—annually provide courses eligible for the RELS major or minor. This cross-disciplinary method authentically represents modern scholarly approaches to examining religious traditions and spiritual practices. Numerous students opt to combine their RELS studies with another major or degree program, as Religious Studies naturally enhances many academic fields.
