The specialization in The Study and Practice of Writing (SPoW) enhances students' theoretical and practical writing skills. SPoW emphasizes common writing forms used in academic, professional, political, and digital contexts.
The English BA program provides a comprehensive overview of American, British, and global English literature. Students build key professional abilities, mastering effective communication, analytical thinking, persuasive techniques, and rapid problem-solving. English majors structure their studies by combining core requirements with electives tailored to their interests. Though upper-level course specialization isn't mandatory, students may focus on specific literary areas or select concentrations like American studies, creative writing, technical communication, digital humanities, environmental humanities, historical literature, social justice, writing studies, English language arts education, or customized programs.
