The Literature as History (LH) specialization courses examine how literary works mirror, clarify, and envision historical narratives across time. Students in this track will critically analyze connections between written works and their social, political, economic, and cultural contexts.
The English BA program offers a comprehensive survey of American, British, and global English literature. Students cultivate vital career competencies, mastering effective communication, analytical reasoning, persuasive argumentation, and rapid problem-solving. English majors blend core requirements with electives to tailor their academic path. While upper-level course concentrations aren't mandatory, students may focus on specific literary areas or select specializations including American studies, creative writing, professional writing, digital humanities, environmental humanities, historical literature studies, social justice, writing theory, English education, or customized programs.
