The Graduate Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies is an interdisciplinary program spanning multiple colleges, examining the region's varied cultures, historical narratives, literary works, and political-economic structures. Designed for both academic scholars and professionals entering government, nonprofit, or corporate fields, the program requires 12 credits: 9 core credits and 3 elective credits from university-wide course offerings. Mandatory components include a 3-credit introductory class (LACS608) and a 1-credit colloquium (LACS648) spread across three semesters (totaling 3 credits). This colloquium welcomes faculty, students, and guest scholars to explore annual themes related to Latin America and the Caribbean. The remaining 6 core credits involve either research-focused or experiential learning concentrations. The Certificate reinforces LASC's role as a hub for scholarly research, academic conferences, cultural programming, graduate advising, and theoretical-practical engagement with Latin American and Caribbean studies.
