The Department of Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) provides an exceptional setting for graduate-level education and research across the field of fire safety. Students can pursue either a Master of Science (M.S.) or Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree. The FPE Department's goal is to mitigate fire-related risks to people and property through top-tier scientific education, research, and public engagement in fire protection engineering and associated safety concerns. The graduate program equips students with interdisciplinary knowledge and research skills to tackle intricate engineering challenges while pushing the boundaries of fire protection engineering.
The FPE M.S. and M.Eng. programs aim to develop graduates who: Possess the technical expertise to work as fire protection engineers in diverse professional environments worldwide, Can assess and articulate the societal, environmental, economic, and safety impacts of engineering solutions on local and global scales, Are equipped to advance the field of fire protection engineering and take on leadership roles in technical or managerial capacities.
Open to qualified students holding a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
