The Master of Science in Systems Engineering (MSSE) program was developed with significant industry collaboration. It addresses systems definition, requirements, specifications, along with design, implementation, and operational aspects. Students can focus on specialized areas such as robotics, cybersecurity, computer and software systems, control systems, manufacturing, transportation or process systems, communications and networking, signal processing, or operations research. Alternatively, students may pursue other specialization areas with their advisor's approval. The program leverages the combined expertise in engineering, computer science, and management from University of Maryland faculty, while utilizing the institution's state-of-the-art facilities, including industry-standard and open-source MBSE software tools. Furthermore, the university's location near Washington, D.C. provides strategic benefits for students pursuing careers with federal agencies or their private sector partners. Maryland's thriving commercial sector, including bioscience, healthcare, and IT industries, also offers additional career opportunities.
