Housed within the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, the Historic Preservation Program brings together faculty from diverse University departments including American Studies, Anthropology, Architecture, History, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Studies and Planning, along with the National Trust Library. We aim to train professionals for various preservation roles while emphasizing research through collaborative faculty-student initiatives with preservation groups and University affiliates. The combined Historic Preservation and Real Estate Development degree requires 60 credits, typically completed in five full-time semesters (2.5 years), including winter and summer coursework. Part-time enrollment is possible with Program Director approval. The final HISP project must satisfy both the preservation program's requirements and the Real Estate Development Capstone criteria - early coordination with both Program Directors is essential to ensure dual compliance.
All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
