It also offers Master of Music degrees in performance, composition, conducting, and music education, along with Doctor of Philosophy degrees in ethnomusicology, musicology, music education, and music theory. Additionally, doctoral students can pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree specializing in composition, performance, or conducting. The Master of Music (M.M.) program caters to students seeking intensive professional training in composition, conducting, music education, or performance within a research university setting. These two-year M.M. programs require 30 graduate-level credits and typically conclude with a recital or capstone project rather than a formal thesis. Performance, conducting, and composition tracks include four semesters of private lessons alongside coursework in music theory, history, pedagogy, and literature.
