The Curriculum and Instruction (EDCI) graduate program, part of the Department of Teaching and Learning, Policy and Leadership, provides Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree options. Our department features diverse programs tailored to support students' academic and career objectives, whether in educational research, teaching, supervision, curriculum leadership, teacher preparation, or consulting across all educational levels - from elementary to higher education. Certain M.Ed. specializations prepare students for teacher certification, including pathways for those with non-education bachelor's degrees seeking teaching credentials. We also provide independent M.Ed. tracks for current educators and professionals, along with research-focused master's programs like the M.A. in Teaching & Learning, Policy & Leadership (TLPL).
This program culminates in a Master's of Education (M.Ed.) degree while qualifying graduates for Maryland State Department of Education PreK-12 World Languages Certification. Participants can prepare to teach various languages including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, and Spanish in elementary or secondary school settings.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
