This Master of Arts (JOUR) program is designed primarily for seasoned journalists pursuing an academic, research-based journalism qualification to prepare for teaching roles or doctoral studies. The 30-credit Master of Arts in Journalism emphasizes scholarly research and requires a thesis. Applicants seeking admission to the master’s program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a accredited institution of higher learning. Undergraduate study of journalism and/or professional experience in journalistic fields are not required. Students must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), provide three writing samples and obtain three letters of recommendation.
