The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine provides a comprehensive four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) program. Students complete the initial three years at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, VA, through a blend of case studies and traditional lectures/labs. After the first year, participants select a specialization track—including small animal, food animal, equine, mixed species, or public/corporate veterinary medicine—with opportunities to customize their studies. The final year consists of a 12-month clinical rotation. This D.V.M. program cultivates skilled, self-assured graduates equipped with essential competencies for immediate professional practice and a commitment to continuous education. By merging foundational and applied sciences in function-based courses, promoting collaborative learning, and facilitating early clinical exposure, the program shapes future veterinary professionals prepared to safeguard animal and human health while strengthening communities.
Those applicants who have earned or will earn a bachelor's degree at a regionally accredited college or university in the United States (or the equivalent of a baccalaureate degree from a nationally recognized institution in another country) are eligible to be considered for admission to the Graduate School at the University of Maryland
